Purpose of Role:        

Contribute to the success of MEG Energy by providing administrative services and organizational support to a group of EHS, Regulatory and Community Relations professionals.  The position will also provide administrative support  to  other teams on the floor including Subsurface, Production and DCL.  


Key Responsibilities:

As a valued member of the Regulatory team, you will be integral to the efficient and effective service provided to the business groups.  Duties include:


  • Manage Corporate and Site EHS Committee activities including acting as Committee Secretary, preparation of committee materials (agenda, minutes, action log, etc.) and planning of monthly meetings.
  • Document Management for key Regulatory and Community Relations initiatives including regulatory applications, correspondence and government submissions.
  • Assistance with developing and/or maintaining departmental electronic communications tools (e.g. management of Regulatory and Environment SharePoint site, Learning Management System, Workday, DDS).
  • Assist with preparation of correspondence and submissions to regulatory agencies and nearby stakeholders.
  • Provide and demonstrate personal Safety leadership in accordance with MEG Energy Corp’s Environment Health and Safety Program. Provide leadership in establishing a strong Safety culture within the MEG Energy Corp’s organization as well as the vendors, service providers, and the contractors we engage with.
  • Provide administrative support by typing/formatting/proofreading of routine correspondence and reports
  • Organize key team interviews, meetings, lunches, social functions and conferences, including off sites.
  • Assists the teams with photocopying, filing, mail distribution and couriering of documents.
  • Assist new hire employees and contractors with on-boarding and office/IT set up.
  • Liaise with key team members day to day business needs including participatation on committees.
  • Perform all tasks with a high degree of care for confidential and sensitive materials and issues.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports as required.
  • Maintains the operability of all office equipment and stocking of office supplies.
  • Maintains/reviews the cleanliness of all floor Kitchens (Café), loading/unloading and starting the dishwasher and ensuring the fridges, countertops, and microwaves are clean and maintaining coffee service.
  • Acts as back up for any administrator during high volume or to cover absences.
  • Assistance with creation of filing system and binders.
  • Assist with roll out of new procedures and systems.


Skills and Knowledge:          

  • Grade 12 Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in multi-discipline and cross-functional teams. Oil and gas experience and a university degree is a definite asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter who takes the initiative with a high degree of energy.
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment; demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and exceed established goals, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information. 
  • Skilled at building and maintaining productive, professional working relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
