Purpose of Role:

The Civil Area Coordinator is assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisor or managerial position and is responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities are to ensure the assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with the design /specification, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards, while meeting or exceeding Project HSE requirements.

The Civil Area Coordinator reports directly to the Construction Manager for the above and is accountable to the Site Technical Services Manager to ensure the project is built as per design to an acceptable level of quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:      

 

As a Civil Area Coordinator you will:

  • Provide and demonstrate personal Safety leadership in accordance with MEG Energy Corp’s Environment Health and Safety Program and specific Project Site Specific Plans.
  • Provide leadership in establishing a strong Safety culture within the MEG Energy Corp’s organization, vendors, service providers, and the contractors we engage with including review and oversight of permitting, tool boxes, JHA’s, site inspections, heavy lift readiness.
  • Direct/Manage day to day activities of construction coordinating with MEG CMT and contractors Construction Managers/Coordinators, Foreman, Quality Technicians;
  • Manage/Support Contractor meetings including: kickoffs, toolbox, Meg daily coordination, IWP final walk downs & MC walk downs;
  • Accountable for implementation of contractor 2 shift look ahead schedules and provide feedback on performance issues.
  • Support development of Contractor Request Forms including, Approval of labour, equipment rosters, contractor supplied materials, additional scopes;
  • Support development of Requests for Site Services;
  • Accountable for implementation of prepared Installation Work Packages (IWP’s) including, releasing scopes to field once constraints removed, progressing, final walk downs, final sign off “done done”.
  • Oversight of material availability.
  • Responsible for Reporting including “Play of the Day” and  Performance feedback based on the following Skyline, Quantity Placement Productivity and Progress Report, Contractor Cost Monitoring Reports.
  • Responsible for the technical integrity and quality of the final installed facilities for projects executed by the Projects Construction Management Team including all technical change documents, Installation test records, redlines & Civil Completion and Transfer of Care Custody and Control;
  • Monitor productivity, repair rates, schedules, work plans and other Key Performance Indicators and be pro-active in investigating the reasons for poor performance and implementing corrective measures.
  • Communicate upwards on issues that will seriously affect safety, quality, schedule, client relationship or company reputation.
  • Provide such other related services as may be required by the Corporation from time to time;

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15-20 years’ experience of Civil Construction management/technical field experience role with-in owner / operator upstream oil and gas organizations and EPCs or Contractors
  • Ability to demonstrate a complete understanding and show commitment to the importance of HSE and Quality in the activities within an operating facility
  • Ability to take responsibility and accountability for performance and to drive success through good leadership
  • Ability to lead and manage a team and to mentor and train others

 

Skills and Knowledge:   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of regulations and codes
  • Detailed knowledge of construction contracts
  • Can prepare comprehensive reports
