Role Description:

 

An Application Specialist (Engineering Applications) is responsible for planning, developing, organizing and maintaining applications in the engineering space and in the associated supporting business units.  They perform a variety of essential data and records management duties, along with application incident, request and enhancement work, to ensure effective support.

 

Key Responsibilities:      

 

  • Maintaining MEG’s electronic document management system (McLaren with Documentum) and the engineering data contained within
  • Manage and support various engineering and project management applications including Primavera P6, Ares Prism, Bentley AutoPlant 3D Modeler, Intergraph SmartPlan Instrumentation, UniSim and HTRI
  • Manage applications’ incidents, requests, enhancements, changes, upgrades, and licensing count
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to support and maintain applications
  • Access control for engineering, document control, and project applications
  • Work with the business to set priorities and meet the needs of the business
  • Prepare clear, concise and accurate reports and other written material
  • Works with the IT Leadership in developing short and long-range plans/roadmaps

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Graduation from a university or college with a major in Computer Science or equivalent program.
  • EMC or McLaren Administrator Courses (Level 1 or 2) beneficial but not required
  • EMC or McLaren Developer course highly desirable
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with McLaren Enterprise Engineer, McLaren DocLoader and Documentum Administrator

 

Skills and Knowledge:

              

  • Familiarity with documents generated in engineering and construction projects for the oil and gas industry, especially CAD files
  • Proven development and deployment in both the McLaren and Documentum areas.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques of document and records management
  • Proficient with DQL – Documentum Query Language
  • Experience with .NET and Java programming
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, tracing and performance tuning
  • Oil and Gas Industry experience is preferred
